VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25T Series 2

The 1997 Nissan Skyline GTS25T Type M Series 2, part of the legendary R33 Skyline generation, is a beloved model known for blending performance, reliability, and striking aesthetics. Positioned as a high-performance sports coupe, the GTS25T Type M offers drivers a thrilling experience thanks to its turbocharged 2.5-liter RB25DET inline-six engine. This engine, producing around 247 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque, delivers a robust and responsive drive that was ahead of its time for a sports car in the late '90s. With Nissan’s engineering advancements, such as variable valve timing and a refined cooling system, the GTS25T Type M provides balanced power delivery, making it both agile on winding roads and composed on straighter paths.

This Skyline model also stands out for its advanced technology and handling. It was available with rear-wheel drive and Nissan's Super HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering) system, which enhanced stability by slightly adjusting the rear wheels during cornering, offering improved handling precision at high speeds. Additionally, the GTS25T Type M Series 2 came with a limited-slip differential (LSD), providing better traction control and stability during spirited driving. The car’s chassis was designed with a double-wishbone suspension in the front and a multi-link suspension in the rear, contributing to excellent road grip and smooth handling. These features combined to make the GTS25T Type M an exceptional performer on both urban streets and mountain roads, appealing to enthusiasts who valued both everyday drivability and track-ready performance.

The R33 Skyline’s design also strikes a unique balance between sleekness and aggression, characterized by its wide stance, aerodynamically optimized front bumper, and iconic round taillights. The Series 2 revision introduced slight design tweaks that included updated lighting and subtle aesthetic changes, which gave the model a more modern and refined look compared to earlier iterations. Inside, the GTS25T Type M offered a driver-focused cockpit with supportive bucket seats, a classic analog gauge cluster, and simple but intuitive controls. While it may not have had the luxurious appointments found in more high-end sports cars, it delivered a comfortable and engaging interior experience that complemented its performance-oriented design. Today, the 1997 Skyline GTS25T Type M remains a sought-after model among JDM enthusiasts and collectors, symbolizing an era of Japanese sports cars known for their robust engineering and thrilling performance.
